PE & Sport

At The Crescent, we recognise the importance of PE and the role it has to play in promoting long term healthy and active lifestyles, engagement in daily physical activity and skills for life and learning.

The intent of our PE curriculum is to provide all children with high quality PE and sport provision. It is our vision for every pupil to succeed and achieve their potential as well as to lead physically active lifestyles.

We strive to inspire our pupils through fun and engaging PE lessons that are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all. We want our pupils to appreciate the benefits of a healthy and physically active lifestyle and the importance to become physically literate.

Through our teaching of PE, we will provide opportunities for all pupils to develop values and transferrable life skills based around key areas of development, including personal, social, cognitive, creative, physical, health and fitness skills.  These skills will be embedded through opportunities to participate in healthy competition, within PE lessons, clubs and inter-school fixtures.

Equality Statement

We are committed to providing a teaching environment conducive to learning. Each child is valued, respected and challenged regardless of ability, race, gender, religion, social background, culture or disability (Article 23). The RealPE Platform incorporates a range of videos to support application of learning.

Clubs

Children at The Crescent are able to enjoy many opportunities to take part in extra-curricular activities, which run at lunchtimes and after school. Many of the clubs are run by staff and are free of charge. The range of sporting clubs on offer include, football, cross-country, basketball, netball, dance-fit and many more!  For more information, please click the link below.

Intra-school Competitions

For many young people sporting competition is first experienced through intra-school competitions. This level of competition will build on a school's existing work to offer a year-round programme of regular intra-school competition in a number of sports, culminating in a Sports Day. At The Crescent we believe that giving the children the opportunity to compete in sporting competitions, will motivate and inspire them and encourage them to continue to be active throughout their lives.
