Computing at The Crescent Primary school
Computing Curriculum Statement
At The Crescent Primary School, we strongly believe that it is important to prepare our learners for an ever-changing digital world. Our Computing curriculum focusses on a progression of skills in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and online safety. These strands are used throughout the school and are taught about different topics using different applications and technologies. We want children to become autonomous, independent users of computing technology and feel confident in using it across the entire curriculum. We aim to ensure that all children have access to different technologies at school that will enhance their learning experience.
Our Computing curriculum supports and promotes the school's core values of Love, Aspire, Belong and Curious.
Love
In Computing, we learn to use technology safely, responsibly and with kindness. Pupils understand the importance of respecting others online, making positive choices and supporting their classmates when working together.
Aspire
In Computing, we inspire pupils to aim high, develop resilience and become confident digital learners. Through coding, problem-solving and creativity, children build skills that prepare them for the opportunities of the future.
Belong
In Computing, everyone is valued and included. Pupils work collaboratively, share ideas and learn from one another, creating a supportive environment where all children can succeed and feel part of the learning community.
Curious
In Computing, we encourage pupils to ask questions, explore new technologies and discover how digital systems work. Children develop a love of learning through investigation, experimentation and creative problem-solving.
At The Crescent Primary School, we aim to give equal access and entitlement to the computing curriculum for all children. We teach computing to all children, whatever their ability. It is part of the school curriculum policy to provide a broad and balanced education for all. We provide learning opportunities that match the needs of children. Pupils have the opportunity to work independently and as a team to build resilience and self-esteem through different tasks. In particular, the idea of working in teams is vital in coding and debugging tasks.
The Computing Curriculum provides access to opportunities and experiences that some children may not have the opportunity to have. Different technologies allow pupils to access learning opportunities, whatever their ability.
